gh-157217: Fix ruff F841/E731 in test_type.py for Lint/prek

Touching this file surfaced pre-existing Ruff findings. Keep the intentional
class-dict reference by asserting on it, and rewrite the lambda as a def.

Restore full file after accidental truncated/placeholder pushes.
