It would be awesome, but when I made the notification daemon it was a mess. Is IS a mess, horrible, I hate it, it shouldn't exist.
Anyway, the thing is that it would be too much work to implement that since I would need to make it from scratch.
The good news is that the new version of Ax-Shell, made in Quickshell, is almost done and includes this!
At first it was just an experiment, to test something new. Then it was GPU acceleration which helps a lot with performance. And after a while I had something big going on, so I just had to keep going.
I could have done everything I did in Quickshell with Fabric. Anyways, it is really good because QT has great documentation and examples, so it's been really easy to build what I want.
Then it was GPU acceleration which helps a lot with performance.
Fixing ax-shell's performance issues definitely isn't as flashy as making a new shell. Hopefully the new shell doesn't chew through the wattage on the GPU side instead, especially at idle.
@FakeMichau Yeah, but you’ve seen the code... It’s terrible. Rewriting it was also an excuse to make it cleaner.
Plus, I’m making it more extensible and customizable, and it’s way easier than trying to refactor the current one.
