📖✨:publish the license our packages point at - #1870
Conversation
Every published package carries a header naming https://open.inf.is/license as the place to read its terms, and that URL has answered 404 since f08a522 removed the root `LICENSE/` directory in favor of licensing each directory where it stands. The page serves the MIT license the OpenINF SDK is published under, reproduced word for word from the SDK's own file down to the straight quotes and the `(c)`, and then says where the terms for written material live: the handbook is share-alike, the rest of the documentation share-alike and non-commercial, each stated at the foot of the page it applies to. The footer links it. A license page reachable only from a package header is published in name alone, and the copyright line is where a reader already looks for one. the deployed site serves /license/ and redirects /license to it, preserving the

The page description ran two constructions together -- "the license OpenINF software is published under" and "the header names this page as the place to read it" -- joined by a "which" that belonged to neither. It goes out as the page's `<meta name='description'>`, so it is read by people who have not seen the page yet. It now names the two things the page holds, in the shape the other page descriptions use: a noun phrase rather than a sentence. A year in a copyright notice dates the notice rather than the rights, and the rights do not lapse for want of one. Leaving it out also means the line does not go stale on its own, which a year in a file nobody edits eventually does. The SDK's own `LICENSE` still carries 2021, so the two differ until that one is changed to match. Signed-off-by: Derek Lewis <DerekNonGeneric@inf.is> Assisted-by: Claude-Code:claude-opus-5

Keep the published MIT notice consistent with the SDK license.
Line 16 omits the 2021 copyright year that remains in the SDK LICENSE. Package headers point readers to this page, so the two license notices currently disagree. Restore the year here, or update the SDK license and package headers together.

In `@collections/_pages/license.html` at line 16, Update the copyright notice in
the license page to include the 2021 year, keeping it consistent with the SDK
LICENSE and existing package headers.
https://open.inf.is/licensehas answered 404 for as long as packageshave pointed at it. Every published package carries the header
and
head.liquidasserts the same URL in the front page's JSON-LD. Theroot
LICENSE/directory that used to back it was removed in f08a522,deliberately — that commit moved the project to licensing each directory
where it stands and rewrote the README to say so. So this restores the
URL without restoring the model it replaced.
What the page serves
The MIT license the OpenINF SDK is published under, taken from the SDK's
own
LICENSE. The permission, conditions and warranty paragraphs areword for word, which is why the page shows straight quotes around
"Software"and"AS IS"and writes(c)rather than©— a licensepage that quietly retypesets the text it is reproducing is not
reproducing it. The all-caps warranty paragraph is kept for the same
reason; it is the license's own text, not a styling choice.
The copyright line is the one deliberate departure:
The SDK's file says
2021. A year dates the notice rather than therights, and it is the part of a license file that goes stale on its own,
so it is left off here. The two differ in that one word until the SDK's
LICENSEis changed to match.A second short section says where the terms for written material live —
the style handbook is share-alike, the rest of the documentation
share-alike and non-commercial — since each documentation page already
states its own at the foot, and a reader arriving from one should not
read the MIT text as covering it.
Layout and links
deep-page, which gives the page the documentation typography and aHomebreadcrumb with itsBreadcrumbListJSON-LD, and needs no newCSS.
/license301s to/license/the way/aboutand/docsalreadydo, so the URL in the package headers resolves.
The handbook link points at
/docs/#handbookrather than/docs/handbook/: no page is served at the latter, which is the casethe
breadcrumbfilter's comment already calls out, and_data/sections.jsonnames the anchor as where the handbook lives. The footer
One line, and the only change outside the new page. A license page
reachable only from a package header is published in name alone, and a
copyright notice is where a reader already looks for one. The link takes
the color of the small print it sits in so it reads as part of that
line rather than as a call to action. Easy to drop if you would rather
the footer stayed a single sentence.
