Changes

  • Special schools hidden by default. Shadowmancy, Necromancy, Arcanum, Spirit and Illusion now need magic.<id> in elements/elements.yml, as Bloodmagic already did. Players only see the four main schools (Cerrith, Seithr, Oseni, Mitlan). The permissions were already declared in plugin.yml with default: false. Staff with * still see everything.
  • No more gap for a locked school. A locked element's slot was reserved but never filled, so it showed as an empty grey slot (reported on Main where Bloodmagic sits). It now gets the inner or border filler pane.

Locked schools also don't grow resonance from meditation or attunement. That is existing behaviour for permission-gated elements. On Main no character has resonance in any special school today, so nothing is lost.

Rollout

elements.yml is not overwritten by the jar. Main's live copy needs the same five permission: lines added alongside the jar.

Testing

  • mvn verify: 463 tests pass, coverage gate passes. New test lockedElementSlotsShowFillerUntilUnlocked covers inner and border slots, before and after the permission is granted.
  • Dev: checked in-game before merging (see comments).

Only Cerrith, Seithr, Oseni and Mitlan show in /resonance by default.
Shadowmancy, Necromancy, Arcanum, Spirit and Illusion now need
magic.<id>, like Bloodmagic already did.

A locked element's slot used to stay empty, which showed as a grey hole
in the menu. It now gets the border or inner filler pane.

📝 Summary

Summary by CodeRabbit

  • Bug Fixes

    • Locked element slots now display matching filler items instead of appearing unchanged, making reserved slots clearer.
  • Access

    • Permission requirements are now specified for Shadowmancy, Necromancy, Arcanum, Spirit and Illusion. These special schools remain hidden until players hold the required magic permission.

Walkthrough

Element configuration now declares permission nodes for five special schools. The resonance GUI fills locked element slots with border or inner filler items and displays element items when permissions are granted.

Dev test (TFMCDev01, PR build, Dev elements.yml with the five new permission lines): a non-op bot with only magic.admin opened /magic open. Cerrith, Seithr, Oseni and Mitlan show their icons. Spirit, Arcanum, Illusion, Necromancy, Shadowmancy and Bloodmagic show the purple filler pane (no empty slot). After granting magic.necromancy and reopening, Necromancy shows its icon and the others stay hidden. 12/12 checks pass. No Magic errors at startup.

Assert the expected element items after unlocking.

assertNotEquals only checks that the old filler is gone. It can pass if either slot is empty or contains a different non-filler item. Assert the expected type and display name for both unlocked elements.

An element configured on the head or a cast-mode slot no longer hides
that control, whether it is locked or not. The test now checks the
unlocked items and the cast-mode control directly.
