At Azure OneFleet Platform, my focus is the engineering behind Azure's global infrastructure: bringing capacity online, operating it reliably, and using it efficiently.
Open source has been part of the story from the start. I ran infrastructure for communities as an IRC operator in the OPN and freenode days, hacked on Gentoo as a student, took part in the first Google Summer of Code, contributed to OpenStack early on, and worked at GitHub. Today it's clearer than ever that open source powers the world, and I plan to share a few select personal projects on GitHub in the hope that they help and inspire others.
Professionally, my recent work spans cloud capacity and identity security. At Microsoft, I've led Azure Capacity and Foundational Observability: forecasting and delivering compute, GPU and storage across 50+ regions, bringing gigawatts of new capacity online each year. Before that, I ran Entra Core Services in Microsoft Security, combining identity systems handling trillions of weekly requests for billions of people with defence against persistent, advanced nation-state threats.
Before Microsoft, I was privileged to serve as Chief Information Security Officer in the earliest days of Oracle Cloud Infrastructure, and to lead EC2 Capacity, Forecasting & Placement at AWS — all part of two decades working across software and infrastructure that began in UK hosting and telecom.

I'm originally from the United Kingdom, but now live in the Pacific Northwest. Building stuff doesn't stop at work: a 1,000+ device Home Assistant setup keeps me busy. We're hacking on pipes and wood, not just code — tackling DIY projects at home and on the farm, planning and building a space for fitness and wellbeing, and generally having fun.
Fitness is a work in progress too — the ongoing battle against the bulge. Gym and cycling help; a love of good food keeps it interesting. There's also photography, reading, gaming, travel, and yelling at the TV during Seattle Kraken games. 🏒
