test: cover upstream Swoole regressions - #661
Conversation
Document the upstream Swoole defects that have direct, reliable Hypervel regressions. Keep unsupported Table atomic operations and Unix datagram behavior out of this change until Hypervel uses those APIs.
Add focused coverage for hooked stream shutdown and listener release, coroutine cancellation and timer ownership, socket option validation, and WebSocket frame handling. Gate only the cases that still fail on the supported Swoole runtime, with each skip pointing to the upstream fix.
Exercise multipart headers split across parse calls, untrusted upload markers, request fields reconstructed from incremental input, and QUERY requests with bodies. The tests use literal local request data so parser behavior is isolated from the network server.
Verify connection-close state does not leak into a later request, invalid deferred proxy settings stop before connecting, and closing an unconnected client reports the expected error. Extend the existing integration fixture with the two small response endpoints needed by the reuse regression.
Exercise large multipart upload-marker rejection through Hypervel's request conversion, exact chunked request boundaries with 100 Continue, and HTTP/1 pipelined response ordering. Use the shared integration server and bounded local socket reads so the coverage stays deterministic.
Add local TLS fixtures and integration servers for mutual TLS and SNI-only configuration. Verify client certificates are required, SNI-only listeners complete handshakes, and malformed default certificates are rejected during configuration.
Build compressed control-frame cases from a valid compressed data frame so the regression exercises the invalid wire input directly. Assert the frame bits and preserve an immutable input snapshot. Move the unconnected HTTP client close regression into the unit suite because it does not need the shared integration server.
Send QUERY and Expect requests through the real Hypervel HTTP server so the regressions cover Swoole's public server behavior rather than only parser helpers. Read the interim response before sending the request body and assert the server emits it exactly once. Keep the raw request helpers bounded and close their sockets unconditionally.
Treat a client without credentials as rejected unless it receives a successful HTTP response, since TLS stacks may report rejection during the handshake or as an immediate EOF. Move malformed certificate startup into a bounded process test and require the fatal ssl_init diagnostic rather than accepting a clean configuration rejection.

ApprovabilityVerdict: Not approved Macroscope's review found this PR not approvable — The PR is confined to Swoole regression tests and local test fixtures, so it has no direct production-path behavior change. Unresolved review findings show that the large-upload assertion may be testing the 64 KiB package limit rather than marker validation, and that a hooked-stream test can wait without a bounded read timeout. Bound the hooked stream shutdown read while retaining the EOF assertion that distinguishes a timeout from a successful half-close. Prove large multipart uploads reach Swoole's preprocessing path before sending the forged internal marker over a raw connection. This prevents package-size handling or HTTP client behavior from producing a false pass.
Check for newly surviving stream resources after promotion cancellation instead of requiring every process-wide baseline stream to remain open. Keep the direct source and upload-wrapper closure assertions while preserving coverage for the adapter's internal spool.
Summary
Hypervel relies on Swoole behavior that the framework cannot correct after the extension has loaded. Several upstream bugs have affected normal framework and application paths, but most had no regression coverage in this repository.
This adds focused coverage for:
Tests that need an unreleased Swoole fix are skipped only on affected extension versions. Every skip links to the upstream fix, so raising Hypervel's minimum Swoole version turns the assertion on without further changes.
The cases use local sockets, bounded waits, and existing test fixtures. They avoid Swoole APIs Hypervel does not use, including atomic table rows and Unix datagram sockets.
Why
These failures can leak state between requests, delay or lose data, accept malformed protocol input, mis-handle uploads, or break secure server startup. Keeping the regressions here tells us when a Swoole upgrade restores the fix and catches later regressions before they reach applications.
Testing
Each version-gated regression was run without its guard against an affected Swoole build and failed for the expected reason. The same assertions pass against builds containing the matching upstream fixes.
The affected Engine, HTTP server, client, coroutine, socket, and TLS suites pass with the guards in place. Static analysis, formatting, and diff checks also pass.
Note
Add Swoole upstream regression coverage for engine, socket, WebSocket, TLS, and HTTP server tests
