Why

nitrostack-py init clones main of this repo into every new project. The skills predated 0.4.x, and three had snippets that didn't compile.

What

Updated

  • tools-resources-prompts: ToolAnnotations, ToolExamples, PromptArgument/PromptMessage, the empty-input-model rule, hidden tools, and the service-layer split.
  • middleware-pipeline: stage order table, and the PipeMetadata import path. ApiKeyGuard allows every call when neither ApiKeyModule nor API_KEY is set.
  • auth-security: API key, JWT and OAuth modules, plus require_scopes vs the template's create_scope_guard (they differ when there's no token).
  • mcp-app-architecture: SERVER_NAME, generate module/service, module layout.
  • ui-widgets: corrected the src/widgets claim, app modes, Inspector setup.

New

  • config-environment: process env > .env > defaults (0.4.1), ConfigService, and the SDK's variables.
  • runtime-features: @cache (service methods only), @rate_limit, MCP tasks with progress, events, health checks.
  • transports-cli: stdio/http/dual, protocol era, CLI commands.
  • testing: NitroTestingModule and its conventions.

CI: scripts/check_skills.py, run on PRs, on main, and weekly against the latest PyPI release. It checks:

  • every skill has a unique name and a description;
  • every python block compiles;
  • every from nitrostack… import name exists in the SDK.

package.json is bumped to 1.1.0 so upgrade sees new skills.

Test

  • check_skills.py: 0 problems against nitrostack 0.4.1 from PyPI. A mutation (an import of a name that doesn't exist) fails it.
  • Outside CI, I ran each self-contained example through NitroTestingModule: tools, resources, prompts, pipeline, auth, widgets, cache, rate limit, tasks, events, health, config. Every result matched the text.

Note

Merging changes the skills of every project created from then on.

Existing skills: fix snippets that didn't compile, add the current tool
options (annotations, examples, no-argument inputs), the pipeline order,
API key and JWT auth, require_scopes vs the template scope guard, and the
service-layer split. ui-widgets: the bundled templates ship plain HTML;
src/widgets is optional.

New skills: config-environment (.env precedence, ConfigService),
runtime-features (cache, rate limits, tasks, events, health),
transports-cli, testing.

scripts/check_skills.py checks frontmatter, compiles every python block,
and checks every nitrostack import against the SDK. CI runs it on PRs,
on main, and weekly against the latest PyPI release.

upgrade replaces vendor/nitrostack since 0.4.2. Projects created with an
older CLI hit the old upgrade bug, so point them at uvx.

Reconcile five SKILL.md conflicts against nitrostack 0.4.x: keep PR #3
API fixes and cross-skill splits (runtime-features, transports-cli), fold in
main's expanded JWT/API key/RBAC examples, pipeline sections, widget modes,
and file-upload guidance where accurate; drop duplicated cache/tasks/CLI/event
content now covered by sibling skills.
