On Wayland getDisplayMedia() resolves while the xdg-desktop-portal picker is still open, so the recorder, timer and cursor telemetry started before any frame existed. Recordings came out with a padded duration, a bitrate sized for the requested 4K instead of the real frame, and were silently dropped when the picker was dismissed. Hold the recorder until the track produces a real frame, size the bitrate from that frame, and report a failure instead of discarding an empty recording.

🎯 Functional Correctness | 🟡 Minor | ⚡ Quick winHandle a post-readiness monitor exit as a cursor-source failure.
After readiness,
dbus-monitorcan exit without notifyingstartCompositorCursorCapture. The cursor stop callback then remains set, so the X11 position fallback ignores mouse moves.sampleCursorPoint()also keeps sampling the last logical KWin point because logical points bypass the age check.Add a post-readiness exit callback. Stop only the cursor bridge, clear
setLinuxCursorScreenPoint(null), and setsetCompositorCursorSourceFailed(true). Keep the click stop callback separate. Do not clearcompositorClickSourceActive; the click effect can continue independently.Suggested fix

Wayland hides the global pointer from clients: Electron's cursor position stays at 0,0 and the X11 input hook only sees XWayland windows, so recordings had no usable cursor telemetry and no auto zooms or cursor effects. On KDE Plasma Wayland, read the position from a temporary KWin script and mouse buttons from a temporary KWin effect for the duration of a recording. If a helper process cannot start or dies during the recording, its source is dropped and the X11 input hook takes over again. Other sessions keep the existing behaviour.
The modern exporter ignored the configured render backend, so the frame renderer picked WebGPU whenever it was exposed. On Linux WebGPU initializes but Pixi's batcher fails on the first frame, which broke every default export. Pass the configured backend through and start with WebGL on Linux.
…ment Cancelling a browser-path recording cleared the collected chunks and then stopped the MediaRecorder, but stop() still flushes a final fragment. That fragment was stored as a recording, failed validation and surfaced as "Failed to store video", leaving an unplayable file behind. Mark the recording as discarded when it is cancelled and skip storing it.
Clicking the tray icon on Linux focuses the app by destroying and recreating the HUD, because Wayland ignores focus(). The HUD is never focusable there, so every click did it, and during a recording that threw away the capture stream with its recorded chunks and left a fresh idle HUD behind. The check also told the editor from the HUD by its URL, which is empty while the editor loads, so a click at that moment destroyed the new editor window and quit the app. Treat a click on the recording tray icon as a stop and send it to the HUD rather than to whichever window is current. Only recreate the HUD itself, and never while it is starting, recording or saving a recording.
The portal's own screen sharing indicator can end the capture without the HUD being asked to stop, and nothing listened for the screen track ending. With an audio track the recorder kept running on a dead video track and never saved anything. Without one it stopped on its own and opened the editor, but left the HUD and the main process in the recording state. Stop the recording when the screen track ends, so it is saved and opened in the editor as with the HUD stop button. When the recorder stops by itself first, leave the recording state the same way.

Description
Fixes the problems that made Recordly unusable on KDE Plasma (Wayland): recordings that were silently lost or had a broken timeline, missing cursor telemetry (no auto zooms or cursor effects), and failing default exports. It also fixes cancelling a browser-path recording, which is broken on
mainas well.getDisplayMedia()resolves while the xdg-desktop-portal picker is still open, because the display media handler returns a synthetic source. The recorder, timer and cursor telemetry now start only once the track produces a real frame (waitForFirstVideoFrame), the bitrate is computed from that frame instead of the requested 3840x2160, and an empty recording reports an error instead of being discarded silently. A stop requested while the picker is still open is honoured once frames arrive.workspace.cursorPosChanged) received over the session bus; mouse buttons come from a temporary KWin effect (effects.mouseChanged) read from KWin's journal output, since scripted effects have no D-Bus access. Both are loaded when a recording starts and unloaded when it stops, with unique names per start. If a helper tool is missing or exits early, the source fails with a warning and the X11 input hook stays in use as a fallback.preferredRenderBackend: undefined, so the frame renderer picked WebGPU whenevernavigator.gpuexisted. The configured backend is now passed through and Linux starts with WebGL.MediaRecorder, butstop()still flushes a final fragment. That fragment was stored as a recording, failed validation and surfaced as "Failed to store video". Cancelled recordings are now skipped.Motivation
On Kubuntu 26.04 (Plasma 6.6, Wayland, Intel Iris Xe):
screen.getCursorScreenPoint()stays at0,0and the X11 input hook only sees XWayland windows, so every cursor sample was identical and no clicks were recorded.Cannot read properties of undefined (reading '_resourceType')), so every default export failed.mainwithout this PR.Type of Change

Testing Guide
Automated:
npm test, npx tsc --noEmit,npx biome lint .andnpm run i18n:checkpass.Manual, on KDE Plasma Wayland:
npm run dev, click Record. The HUD must not show the timer until a screen is picked in the "Share screen with" dialog.RECORDLY_SMOKE_EXPORT=1 RECORDLY_SMOKE_EXPORT_INPUT=<recording.webm> RECORDLY_SMOKE_EXPORT_OUTPUT=<out.mp4>succeeds with the default and the legacy pipeline. The stop-while-picking case was checked by sending the tray's
stop-recording-from-trayevent while the picker was open and then picking a screen: no recording started. Before the fix the same steps started one.Platform impact:
gdbus,dbus-monitorandjournalctl. Without them the KWin sources fail with a warning and the X11 input hook is used instead, which only sees XWayland windows. That fallback is covered by unit tests only.Checklist
