Revisions by @thomassargent30 to two_auctions:

  • clarified code comments
  • four exercises (incl. a check against the analytical uniform case)
  • "References" becomes "Further reading"

Adds 5 bib entries (Krishna, Riley–Samuelson, Klemperer, Milgrom, David–Nagaraja).

Split out of tom_mfg (commit 8bf3b2c) so each lecture can be reviewed separately. Content is unchanged from Tom's commit; only the relevant quant-econ.bib entries and _toc.yml lines are included here.

Merge order: independent — can be merged at any time, in any order relative to the other split PRs (#1067, #1068, #1069, #1070/#1071). Each PR adds its bib entries at a different place in quant-econ.bib, so they do not conflict.

🤖 Generated with Claude Code

Split out of branch tom_mfg (commit 8bf3b2c).

TODO before merge: check this lecture against the QuantEcon style guide (writing, code, math, figures, references, doc links, admonitions).

📚 Changed Lectures

Build Info

- {cite} -> {cite:t} where the authors are part of the sentence
- \mathbb{E} / \mathbb{P} (with braces for events) in place of bold
\mathbf{E} / \mathbf{P} throughout, and no bold for R and TR
- \cdot or juxtaposition instead of * in math, and "IID" for "i.i.d."
- Lowercase "revenue equivalence theorem" and "Bayesian Nash
  equilibrium" mid-sentence
- Italic rather than bold for emphasis

@jstac Style guide check done ✅ The new exercises are a nice touch, especially the risk-aversion one!

I've pushed one small commit (715bad1) with the style fixes:

  • Citations: {cite} → {cite:t} in the new "Further reading" section and one other place, since they otherwise render as "[Klemperer, 1999] surveys the literature".
  • Notation: expectation and probability now use \mathbb{E} / \mathbb{P} (with braces for events) instead of bold \mathbf{E} / \mathbf{P}. I changed this throughout the lecture so the new exercises and the older text match. Also * → \cdot in math, and "i.i.d." → "IID".
  • Capitalization: "revenue equivalence theorem" and "Bayesian Nash equilibrium" are lowercase mid-sentence, matching the section heading.
  • Italic for emphasis, bold for definitions: risk neutral, more.

Nothing changes the substance. Happy to adjust anything.
